Frank Musisi's contribution work to the Community



Fellow ,Ugandans and friends of Uganda:


As we look for the new leadership for our Ugandan North American Association, UNAA for the next two years, community work is one aspect that we need to look at when making this important decision. .

Ladies and gentlemen, my Volunteer Community Contribution to the Ugandan Community at large includes but not limited to the following:

Chairman / Founder               December 2004 - Present
Ssese Islands African Aids Project, SIAAP

Founder of this HIV/AIDS Non-Profit Organization. This is a community based non-profit organization with a sole purpose of combating the spread of HIV/AIDS in Ssese Islands, Uganda. Kalangala district is an island district surrounded by Lake Victoria, the district lacks adequate infrastructure to provide a comprehensive HIV/AIDS program. My responsibilities are to direct and guide the board of directors, raise funds for the organization, promote the organization in Uganda, Europe and in the United States. Our work in Kalangala district has been recognized both in Uganda and here in the U.S. My work within SIAAP was recognized by UNAA when I was voted as the Recipient of the 2006 UNAA's Philly Bongole Lutaaya HIV/AIDS Award by UNAA-Internatina Board.

Together with the board of directors directed and controlled the operations of the organization. Selected hosting cities that organized annual conferences for the organization. Run the affairs of the organization. I was elected on the UNAA International Board of Directors during the UNAA convention in Boston, in 2003.

African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA)-Southern California Coalition

Former advisor and member Board of Directors of AGOA - Southern California Coalition, based in the City of Long Beach, this is was a pressure group of business executives and activists involved in promoting development programs for Africa and the Caribbean nations. Together with other members lobbied the local Members of the U.S. Congress for the passage of AGOA. AGOA was signed into law in 2000 by former President, Bill Clinton to give trade preferences to goods and services from Africa and the Caribbean within the United States.

Ugandan Community Organization in California (UCOC), Los Angeles, CA

Founding member and former President of this outreach Non-profit Organization. Oversaw all aspects of the formation and incorporation of the organization. Presided and directed over the executive governing board meetings. Arranged annual general meetings for the organization. Marketed the organization to the public. Organized a special economic summit "Kampala 2000" in San Francisco, between Kampala City and San Francisco to promote sister city relationship. From this summit a Kampala-San Francisco sister-city was initiated between Mayor Willie Brown Jr. and John Sebaana Kizito of Kampala.

Facilitator/ Consultant                September 1997 - June 2000
San Diego State University, SDSU, Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER).

Consultant with Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER). Facilitator for the African programs. Initiated a Professor-Student Exchange Program with Makerere University and Uganda Management Institute (UMI) Africa, in 1998. Also initiated the sister city relationship between Kampala and San Diego cities in 1998. Led a fact-finding delegation to Uganda (Africa) from CIBER in July1999.

Executive Committee Member in charge of Information and Publicity for the 6th Annual UNAA Convention in Los Angeles. Marketed and publicized the convention to the public.

Like Dr. Martin Luther King said, "I have a dream." A dream that one day, our UNAA will become the best and most powerful Community based Non-Profit Organization to be reckoned with in North America.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the above volunteer community service should give you a sense of who I am and any references you may seek. I, therefore, ask you for the support that will allow me to continue my contributions to the community at large by electing me to the position of President of UNAA 2007-2009.
